The name Dohasa (Kr. 도하사, Ch. 渡河寺) means “Temple of the River Crossing.” In Buddhist teachings, crossing from this shore to the far shore is a central image for the journey of awakening. This name expresses our deepest aspiration: that each person may awaken to their true nature and live a life of peace and freedom.
 

Our Mission
Dohasa Zen Group is dedicated to sharing the Korean Zen (Seon) tradition as a clear and relevant path of awakening in today’s world. Rooted in a living tradition and adapted to the realities of modern life, we offer a place where anyone can engage in authentic practice at their own pace. At the heart of our teaching is ganhwa seon, the traditional practice of inquiry that has been carefully preserved and passed down through centuries. Our aspiration is to share this rare and liberating method while making the fullness and depth of Korean Zen accessible to all who are drawn to it, regardless of background, experience, or personal path.
 

Our Vision
In time, we hope to grow into a thriving Korean Zen temple and serve as a spiritual home for the Norwegian, Korean, and international communities in Oslo. We also seek to make our teachings and community accessible to those across Norway and beyond who may not have local opportunities to practice. To support this, we plan to develop a range of online resources and programs, allowing people everywhere to explore this path together and to contribute to the wider growth of wisdom and compassion in the world.
