New to Dohasa?
Read the guide below to get started.
Welcome
Dohasa is a meditation group in the Korean Zen (Seon) Buddhist tradition. We offer an open and supportive community for those who wish to explore meditation or deepen their practice at any stage of their journey.
We’ve put together a short guide for newcomers on how to get started and take part in our activities. Take a look below to begin.
Where Do I Begin?
Whether you are a beginner or have prior experience, the best place to start is by joining one of our Tuesday Evening Meditation sessions. This is a simple way to learn about meditation, ask questions, and meet others in the Dohasa community in an informal setting. No preparation or previous experience is required.
What Should I Do Next?
After attending a few Tuesday sittings, you may wish to explore our other activities. Each offers a different way to deepen your practice and connect with the community.
-
Hwadu Hikes – Walking meditation in Oslo's beautiful Nordmarka forest, where we learn to slow down and see the mystery of life around and within us.
-
One-Day Retreats – Extended day of practice in the traditional Korean Zen style, with forms adapted from Korean monasteries.
-
Multi-Day and Seasonal Retreats – Opportunities for sustained practice in a supportive environment, guided by our renowned and internationally respected teachers.
